SIGHTSEEING TOUR DESCRIPTIONS

TOUR 4 - FULL-DAY NORTHERN BERKSHIRES AND THE MOHAWK TRAIL

The scenery is awe inspiring.  Here, the mountains take on a wondrous majesty, where history and art blend into an unforgettable day of sightseeing.  The tour includes a visit to several towns, each of which has its own local flavor, and has "landmarked" its respective history with its own unique handwriting. Please keep in mind that sightseeing programs can be modified, or customized to fit your group's needs.

LET'S ANIMATE !

WILLIAMSTOWN is the starting point.  Its most conspicuous landmark is Williams College, bedecked with its spacious Ivy League campus.  Minutes away is THE STERLING AND FRANCINE INSTITUTE OF ART.  This museum houses one of the renown art treasures, including a large collection of French impressionist paintings.  Galleries of Renaissance and Baroque period paintings are also waiting for inspection.  You'll spend at least an hour during your visit to see them.  A gift shop is also on the premises where you can purchase souvenirs.

After concluding the visit, drive to NORTH ADAMS, home of the Museum of Contemporary Art.  A THREE COURSE LUNCH awaits your arrival.  Visit the WESTERN GATEWAY HERITAGE PARK MUSEUM to see 3-dimensional dioramas, showing the boring and building of the Hoosac railroad Tunnel, which claimed countless numbers of lives during the period of its construction.

From North Adams, the drive begins to ascend to view hundred mile panoramas, as seen from the "Hairpin Turn".  Passing the World War One Memorial at Whitcomb Summit, the highest point along the Mohawk Trail, arrive at Charlemont to see the famous "Hail To The Sunrise" statue, which commemorates and memorializes the history of the Mohawk Indians.  Just beyond is SHELBURNE FALLS, a delightful town, famous for its "Bridge of Flowers".  There will be time to enjoy leisure time here for personal exploration.  Be sure to bring your camera!  The tour concludes with return arrival at the starting point, or continuing to the next destination.

NOTE: Luncheon arrangements at restaurants indicated in the itinerary are subject to availability.  In the event of non-availability, dining arrangements will be made at an alternate restaurant of similar grade, which may cause a variation in the order of visits.
